We here at the Duke are proud to announce the arrival of one of this year's most anticipated new wines! Leslie Rudd of Rudd Winery and Jeff Morgan of SoloRosa Winery have created Covenant! The literal definition of the word covenant is a binding agreement or contract. Their concept of a strong connection between those who share a common history, experience, and values promises to set a new standard.We are very excited about obtaining, for our customers, this extraordinary first vintage. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was picked at the peak of its maturity. The expression of this wine shows its deep, rich color and many flavors. Robert Parker wrote, "Everything about this wine is serious. It is aged in all new French Oak. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by a big, sweet nose of black currants . . . . The wine is rich, opulent, medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and tasty. I can think of only one kosher wine that was this good or better, and that was the limited cuvee made at the garagist St.-Emilion property of Chateau Valandraud." Editor's note: Chateau Valandraud sells at about $250.00 a bottle! Covenant's package is something to behold! An attractive, but seriously thick and heavy bottle portends greatness. Harkening back to the days of symbolic imagery, the Covenant label (pictured above) was influenced by the artwork of Marc Chagall. We tasted Covenant twice and think it is super. We know that you will concur. It is in the same league as the very top Napa Cabernet Sauvignons. The fact that it happens to be kosher is a bonus for those of you who are looking for the very best for Passover. Covenant is good to enjoy now, but has great aging possibilities for the next decade.
