Winemaker Zach Rasmuson - "This well-balanced wine offers bright acidity and a long, satisfying finish. The aroma is rich and evocative of dark cherries, nutmeg, caramelized apple, cinnamon, and clove. On the palate, it is full of plum, spice, cherry, strawberry, and vanilla oak layers. ZR - "There is a hint of pennyroyal mint (native to our area) in both the nose and mouth. The aroma is full of red fruit-strawberry, raspberry, and Bing cherry-complemented by a floral note and a touch of oak. In the mouth, sweet spices abound-cinnamon, in particular-along with dense plum and notes of cola and vanilla, all followed by an edge of earthiness, mushrooms, and forest floor in the finish."

2005 Paraduxx - Duke's Price - $48.00
Winemaker David Galzignato - "The aroma explodes with ripe fruit: strawberry, boysenberry, and plum, complemented by hints of violets, spice, and orange peel. This wine is medium-bodied with a chewy texture, robust yet approachable tannins, and a firm, lengthy finish. Ripe flavors of raspberry, red cherry, and boysenberry are balanced by complex notes of dark chocolate, espresso bean, and black licorice."

The Duke also has some very limited quantities of the much-sought-after single-vineyard bottlings of Goldeneye. Because 2005 was a standout vintage, Goldeneye produced two exceptional estate-grown vineyard-designated bottlings - their second from Confluence Vineyard and an inaugural bottling from Gowan Creek Vineyard. ZR - The 2005 Confluence was blended from a combination of hillside and valley floor blocks, and each contribution can be noted. The hillside grapes lend firmness and spirit, while the valley floor fruit contributes an opulence that is instantly gratifying. This wine is all about elegance and a persistent velvet texture, but with a firmness that testifies to its ageability. The aroma is rich with strawberry, Santa Rosa plum, star anise, and violets. Potent boysenberry and strawberry fruit coat the palate, with cinnamon and clove underlying the fruit and earth."

ZR - "Strong, lush and extracted, this wine displays good weight and ample length. The abundant aroma is dusty and woodsy with elements of jasmine tea, sweet cocoa, and bramble. In the mouth, there is a robust, untamed quality to this wine that expresses itself in extremely complex, dark-fruit flavors of blackberry, black cherry, and blueberry that seem to explode on the palate."
