Innisfree, like all of the Phelps wines, is "made from the ground up." By this we mean that fine wine is the result of meticulous farming followed by careful winemaking. The result in your glass tells you all you need to know. Phelps, famed for their flagship proprietary red wine Insignia, produces a special bottling for selected retailers called Innisfree. Like Insignia and made from the wines that don't make Insigna's final bottling, Innisfree is based on Cabernet Sauvignon. Luckily, the Duke is one of the selected retailers.

With even more luck, the Duke's staff had a chance to taste the 2006 Innisfree last week. Our comments included: "rich and silky," "great fruit flavors," and "more body than I would expect from a wine in this price range." The consensus was, "If you liked the '05, you will love the '06!"
