New Pre-Arrival from Heidi Barrett!

No one in the wine business gets as many incredible new offerings as the Duke of Bourbon! We are thrilled to announce that we have been selected to present the inaugural vintage of Au Sommet 2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon!

The Au Sommet (pronounced o-so-may) will be available in the Fall of 2010. Only 350 cases have been produced. This exciting new wine was created by John Schwartz (Amuse Bouche, PharaohMoans, Coup de Foudre, etc.), along with Jim Barbour (master vineyard manager) and Heidi Barrett (one of the finest winemakers in the world)!

Heidi is currently the winemaker for Amuse Bouche, Jones Family, Barbour Vineyards, Paradigm Winery, Showket Vineyards and Revana Family Vineyards. Past clients include Screaming Eagle (2 Robert Parker 100-point Wines), Dalla Valle (2 Robert Parker 100-point Wines), Grace Family, Vineyard 29 and Hartwell/Grace. In addition to these clients, she does a limited amount of consulting work for Diamond Creek Winery and Niebaum-Coppola (Rubicon) where she works with their winemakers to further improve their wines.

To this lush raw beauty, Barrett brings her civilizing touch. "

Au Sommet's 2008 inaugural offering is a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot exuding rich, velvety textures of brambleberry fruit and underlying aromas of cassis, cedar and crushed rocks. The grapes benefitted from the longer hang time that makes mountain fruit so ripe and concentrated.
