Black Bart Marsanne is back! Last year, the DUKE introduced wine lovers to Black Bart Marsanne from Napa Valley's famed Stagecoach Vineyard. Marsanne is a Rh=C3=B4ne-based white grape varietal that is somewhat uncommon in California and particularly rare in Napa Valley. We sampled the current Black Bart 2007 Marsanne at our store and were blown away by its combination of richness and elegance. Beautiful aromas of apricot pear, honeysuckle and spice abound, but it's the rich mouthfeel and distinctive minerality that set this wine apart from the pack. Much like Chardonnay, Black Bart Marsanne is typically barrel-fermented and aged, giving it a familiar creamy texture. We're often told by red wine devotées that this Marsanne is one of their favorite whites.
