We hope you have saved Wednesday, June 2, 2010, for our exciting "ALL IN THE FAMILY" seminar featuring an amazing list of Central Coast wines from a special group of related winemakers and wineries. All of the winemakers are connected in some way to the ABC/Qupe Winery in Santa Maria, California: JIM CLENDENEN of AU BON CLIMAT and BOB LINDQUIST of QUPE are long-time partners producing their wines at the same facility; Bob's wife, LOUISA SAWYER LINDQUIST, produces the VERDAD wines; ETHAN LINDQUIST is Bob's oldest son and the producer of his own ETHAN WINES; GAVIN CHANIN is Jim's godson, an ABC/Qupe assistant winemaker, and the producer of his own CHANIN WINE COMPANY wines.

Jim Clendenen makes so many outstanding wines that it was difficult to choose which ones to present at this seminar, but we did our best. Along with the new release of the popular "Dick and Marg Denny" Block Pinot Noir we will be offering the world premiere of a blockbuster wine - the Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir, 20th Anniversary at Bien Nacido Vineyard. Only two barrels were produced of what Jim describes as a "Super-Star Wine."

Bob Lindquist's Qupe Winery, in the early 1980s, was the first winery on the Central Coast to produce Syrah. Some of the finest Rhône-style wines ever produced in California have been from Bob at Qupe. His artistic endeavors have given birth to both white and red masterpieces. This event will showcase several of his beauties, including our premiere showing of the 2008 Syrah, Sonnie's from Bob & Louisa Lindquists's home vineyard.

Louisa Sawyer Lindquist has been producing Spanish varietals for 10 years under her Verdad label. In the past, we have shown her Albariño and Tempranillo Rosé. At this event, we will show two Tempranillos, one from the Santa Ynez Valley and the very special one produced from grapes grown on the Lindquists' home vineyard in Edna Valley - the Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard. This is one of only 30-some vineyards in America to have earned the hard-to-obtain Demeter Certified Biodynamic Certification.

Ethan Lindquist, Bob's son, produces small quantities of very high-end wines. In fact, he has created quite a following in Denmark for his high-quality Syrah. His wines are handcrafted in very small lots from special single-vineyard sites. We will be showing three of Ethan's wines, including his first-ever Grenache Blanc, which will be released soon after our event.

Gavin Chanin was born and raised here in Los Angeles. He is a recent Phi Beta Kappa graduate of UCLA with a degree in Art. He has been apprenticing for years at ABC/Qupe and recently was hired as an assistant winemaker for both Jim and Bob. He is also producing his own outstanding Chardonnay and Pinot Noir under his Chanin Wine Company label. Each artistically produced wine is graced with its own beautiful art label designed by Gavin.
