The McCain Bill in Washington, D.C. is not dead! It is very much alive. On top of this other amendments are being considered all wanting tobacco dollars to pay for them. Friends of Tobacco is pursuing every opportunity to give our industry equal representation and support our freedoms by aggressively working with member companies both in Washington, D.C. & throughout the United States. If you have not yet called your congressional leaders in Washington to voice your concerns about the tobacco settlement please do so now. World Class Cigar Expo will host the 1st Annual "Summer Smoke on the Beach" on July 17-19, 1998 at the Royal Pavillion Resort in Atlantic Beach, N.C. Cigar TV Network hosted by Larry Manetti (Magnum PI) & Downtown Julie Brown will co-sponsor the event. Other celebrities expected. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Tobacco. The Friends of Tobacco will begin our 1998 annual fund-raising & membership drive on June 22. We want to encourage everyone to support this annual event. Members that renew their memberships will receive a gift box full of sample products & discount coupons donated by tobacconists. Joining the campaign will be a number of companies that are including membership forms in their orders & customer store purchases. The Friends of Tobacco "Retail Letter Mailing" that allows cigar companies to reach all tobacconists throughout the United States & promote their products has increased from 9,000 to 11,000. The next mailing is July 15, 1998. Space is very limited. For more information - call 252.522.4769.
