No More Taxes!
Send a Postcard to Senator McCain
Senator John McCain has proposed a tax bill that would push the price of cigarettes up well over $2 more a pack!
The McCain proposal, still supported by the Clinton Administration, must be stopped. We need to remiind the senate that smokers already pay more than their fair share of taxes to the government, and that they should not be asked to pay more. The tax increase is being pushed as a way to stop teen smoking although only 3 to 5 percent of cigarettes are purchased by those under the age of 18. Higher prices will do nothing to stop teenagers from smoking - this is a tax on you!
Let's not let the government think that we will surrender our wallets without a fight. Please take a moment to write to the Senator and let him know how you feel.
